‘The whisper of paper’

“The whisper of paper”, the inaugural exhibition of the 2021-2022 season at the Rafael Ortiz Gallery in Seville, is an exercise, or perhaps a vindication, of the use in the visual arts of an ancient medium such as paper, placing emphasis on the masterful use made of it by some of today's Andalusian creators who use it with complete freedom: Rubén Guerrero, Miki Leal, José Miguel Pereñíguez and Jorge Thuillier.

In this project, techniques as diverse as graphite, charcoal, acrylic paint, oil paint and markers give a measure of the nobility and ductility of the material. A support, in principle, less compromising, on which one tests and improvises, but on which one also achieves fresher, freer results.
