The artist duo Yasemin Baydar and Birol Demir are :mentalKLINIK. Yasemin is metal (the one with the ideas and Birol is Klinik the one who develops and makes them a reality). Their works reflect on the essence of truth, while making the viewer contemplate whether they are true or not. Is this work truly a Rothko? Or is it a totally high-tech 3.0 version?

All of his works are full of happiness, celebration, good vibes and are developed with the most cutting-edge techniques of the moment.

:mentalKlinik will also be residents of our EL NUCLEO artist residency in 2023. We are looking forward to seeing what they will be able to create in Spain.

Juan Uslé

Untitled, 2021, Painting, 56 x 41 cm

Buy

A beautiful painting (as they all are) by the master Uslé, one of our most international artists of the 80s generation. His painting is defined as minimalist abstraction, where repeated strokes create a harmonious and beautiful composition that could well look like musical scores. Uslé says that he works listening to his heart and that he applies each of those strokes for each beat. I can almost hear it too.

Richard Mosse

Buy

The first time I saw this series by Irish photographer Richard Mosse many years ago, I was struck by it. Using infrared film, he documented the Congo war in a different way, capturing the beauty within the tragedy. Using this film, designed for aerial surveys of vegetation and identifying camouflaged targets within military contexts, the chlorophyll in the plants turns into a series of pink and purple hues, creating this unexpected and highly appealing colour palette.

Regine Schumann

color satin and rainbow dusseldorf,2017,Sculpture,68 x 7 x 14 cm

Buy

Regine Schumann's use of colour and light is fascinating. Photos certainly do not do justice to the sensations that the works generate in the viewer. Schumann's methacrylates react to natural light in very different ways throughout the day, creating beautiful reflections and radiations. And, if you also apply a black light, the spectrum doubles. Schumann was one of our guest artists at EL NUCLEO in 2019 and made a beautiful limited series for us. I confess that I have one of her pieces of ethereal and almost spiritual beauty at home and it is undoubtedly one of my favourites.

Esther Gaton

--hail she who holds my tongue,2021,Sculpture,53 x 120 x 96 cm
Buy

This very young Spanish multidisciplinary artist builds environments through sculptures, audiovisuals or lighting. Esther does not project her creations, but rather faces the work without a specific plan, letting herself go. In this process, the artist creates unfinished forms that invite the viewer to search for a meaning or an end in them, thus making them a participant in the work. I like this work in particular for the wise use of disparate materials and organic forms that result in a sculpture of great sensuality.

Saelia Aparicio

Eco-warrior,2017,Other category,170 x 55 cm

Buy

I have been following the young Saelia for some time, winner of many awards and recognitions. Always transgressive, her work is a critique of urban speculation, inequality and pollution, and is also consistent since the materials she uses are always environmentally sustainable. Drawing is her natural medium and she explores sculpture and installation as if they were 3-dimensional drawings. This sculpture “Eco Warrior” interests me greatly, both aesthetically and formally.

Gerold Miller

Set 511,2018,Painting,180 x 144 x 9 cm

Buy

Gerold Miller's minimalist and abstract works are halfway between painting and sculpture. His aluminium pieces with bright lacquered finishes in clear colours create an almost mirror effect. Colour blocks, geometric shapes, seemingly simple compositions, extremely elegant. Personally, his works in black are my favourites and I think this one can fit into almost any space.
