The idea for the project arose from a personal need to transform pain and suffering into peace and calm through gestures and the art of sewing traditionally performed by women. That, and the discovery in a second-hand market of a box full of spools of red thread from an old factory in Alcoi (the cradle of spinning and the development of the textile industry in the Valencian Country), provoked in me a vital need to unite painting and thread, gesture and needle. Paradoxically, I speak of my pain at a time when the whole society is eclipsed by a pandemic, in which dead people become mere numbers, and in which all of us in one way or another have lost something or someone we knew. Thus, this project is conceived at a time of pain and that is why it becomes a form of expression of the most universal pain. Anyone can identify with this concept.
