Biografía del Artista: Hans Hartung (Leipzig, 1904 - Antibes, 1989) was a German-born French painter, noted for his abstract works with black calligraphic strokes on vibrant colored backgrounds. Born into a family of scientists and artists, he studied philosophy, art history and fine arts in Leipzig and Dresden. From the start, he distanced himself from the Bauhaus movement, opting for a free abstract expression that transcended reality. His rapid, energetic brushstrokes, which he defined as a "spiritual necessity," became his hallmark. Hartung received important awards, such as the Guggenheim (1956) and the Grand Prix at the Venice Biennale (1960), consolidating his position as a benchmark in abstract art.
