Biografía del Artista: Mark Cohen (Geleen, Netherlands, 1975) graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Maastricht in 1999, after which he began receiving various artist grants from the BKVB foundation in Amsterdam. He has exhibited in various galleries and art fairs, both in his home country and abroad. These include the Alejandro Sales Gallery, the Antonia Puyó Gallery, the Magda Bellotti Gallery and ARCO in Spain. He has also exhibited at Galerie Dis, Galerie 59 and Galerie Ruimte morguen in the Netherlands and Belgium. His work is included in various art collections, including the Dutch National Bank and the May and Samuel Rudin Family Foundation in New York. Mark Cohen’s Irrealis series, begun in 2015, is a collection of new, smaller-sized artworks made from paper and enlarged digital prints. These new artworks are no longer based on photographs or artistic representations, as was the case with his earlier works. However, his modus operandi has not undergone drastic changes, as he continues to view his artwork as a process of growth, with each new step taking what is already on paper as a starting point. The idea of increasing the size of his initial work by digital printing originated from a visit to the Rembrandt exhibition in Barcelona, where a massive enlargement of Christ Preaching was placed on the entrance wall. This enlargement showed details that were normally hidden from the human eye and gave the viewer the sensation of wandering through the image, an experience that Cohen also sought to achieve with his own work. Silkscreens produced in 2008 by the Dutch artist Mark Cohen based in Malaga in collaboration with the Santa María de Albarracín Foundation and the Vallirana graphic workshop in Barcelona. Recomendaciones para una conservación adecuada de las obras de arte:
- Mantener las obras de arte alejadas de la luz directa del sol y de cualquier otra fuente de calor (calefacción, aire acondicionado, etc.) Evitar colgar las obras cerca de zonas con humo y contaminación (como chimeneas o cocinas). Te aconsejamos proteger los cuadros con un marco de cristal.
- Evitar las alteraciones bruscas de temperatura. Se recomienda conservar las obras pictóricas en zonas con temperatura ambiente de entre 18-20º y un 50% de humedad relativa.
- Si se quiere iluminar la obra de forma permanente, aconsejamos utilizar focos de luz fría. Utilizar un plumero suave para la limpieza periódica de la obra. Nunca usar limpiador doméstico.
