‘" A Warmth from within / warmth of the inside "’ ’
The project A Warmth from Within / Calidez del Adentro has as its central axis several interests shared by Diego Delas and Julius Heinemann. One of them is the understanding of architecture that attends to the notions of the self; that is, understanding it not only as a functional space but also a dwelling in which to articulate a symbolic situation.[1] With this perspective, it is not surprising that both share an interest in modern architects such as Le Corbusier and Luis Barragán who developed a practice concerned with constructing spatial scenes that stimulate reflection, introspection and imagination. To do this, both architects relied heavily on a plastic dimension to construct buildings as perceptual experiences capable of provoking different types of thoughts and associations. It is no coincidence that both the Swiss and Mexican architects built spaces designed for recreation and daydreaming (museums, parks, gardens) and also for reflection and isolated meditation (churches, convents, monasteries). In this interior, the artists display a variety of objects and works. Together they designed basic furniture in the structure of a minimal home, such as a table or a couple of stools.
