Description
Dionisio González - Buraco Quente II

Técnica: Chromogeneous printing, Diasec Mounting

Biografía del Artista: Dionisio González was born in Gijón in 1965 and graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Seville. After graduating, he furthered his studies in Computer Assisted Imaging at Wilkey's Moor Print Workshop in Devon and in Fine Art Printing at the College of Art at Heriott Watt University in Edinburgh. He also completed his training in Film and Television at the Escola de Artes Avanzadas Aula do Risco in Lisbon. Architecture is the main theme in Dionisio González's work. In his studio, he creates fictional constructions with an incredible degree of detail and then grafts them onto different real environments that he has photographed on site. This process of reinventing suburban landscapes, not without a certain baroque style, raises a profound reflection on the ways of inhabiting the contemporary city, an investigation into the ways of living in the 21st century and the relationships that man establishes with the environment. Dionisio González's photography shows an excellent command of the technique of photomanipulation, spaces and light as elements that make up an alternative reality to the universe we live in. His images are only one part of a much longer process that aims to explore the idea of thought and the development of the concepts that move Dionisio, his fascination with architecture, his concern for social decay, and the permanent search for enclaves where chaos and beauty coexist. Throughout his career, Dionisio González has received important awards such as the Pilar Juncosa and Sotheby's Prize, the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró Prize and the European Month of Photography Arendt Award (Luxembourg), among others. His work is present in important institutions such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago or the National Center for Contemporary Art in Paris, as well as in prominent public and private collections.

Dionisio Gonzalez (Gijon, 1965) A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville, he furthered his studies in Computer Assisted Imaging at the Wilkey's Moor Print Workshop in Devon, England, in Artistic Printing at the College of Art at Heriott Watt University in Edinburgh, completing his training in Film and Television at the Aula do Risco Advanced Arts School in Lisbon. Architecture is his main theme. His photography, based on fictional recreations of buildings grafted onto different environments, is based on the author's profound reflection on the ways of inhabiting the contemporary city, an investigation into the ways of living in the 21st century and the relationships that man establishes with the environment. These are images taken on site by the artist, which he then digitally modifies in his studio, in a process of re-inventing suburban landscapes that are not exempt from a certain baroque style. In Dionisio González's photography we can clearly appreciate an excellent handling of the photomanipulation technique, of spaces and light as elements that make up an alternative reality to the universe we live in, a parallel universe, but very real. Beyond mere photomontage, his images are only one part of a much longer process in which what really counts is the idea, the thought and the development of the concepts that move Dionisio, his fascination with architecture, his concern for social decay, and the permanent search for enclaves where chaos and beauty coexist. Dionisio González has received important international awards, such as the Pilar Juncosa and Sotheby's Prize, the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró Prize, and the European Month of Photography Arendt Award (Luxembourg), among others. His work is also present in important institutions such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, in Madrid, the Museum of Contemporary Photography, in Chicago, USA, or the National Centre for Contemporary Art in Paris, as well as in prominent public and private collections.
