Biografía del Artista: Luca Freschi (1982) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Section of Painting. In these years of activity he has carried out research based on the otherness of the human figure, on personal and collective memory through the use of the plaster technique. He has participated in various collective and solo exhibitions in Italy and Europe, among which we highlight in recent years: the 51st Edition of the Campigna Prize, at the Vero Stoppioni Contemporary Art Gallery in Santa Sofia; Open 12, International Exhibition of Sculptures and Installations on the Island of San Servolo in Venice in 2009; in 2011 he won the first edition of OPERA / Fabbrica, in the Cloister of the Oriani Library in Ravenna. Group exhibitions: “Italy Korea, Art and Culture – Recognizing the Differences”, Sala della Tinazzara, National Museum of Ravenna in 2018; “Parallel Dialogues”, Lara and Rino Costa Gallery, Valenza and “Sculpture is a Serious Thing”, Art Gallery of Florence in 2018. Bonioni, Reggio Emilia 2016; “True Art” Gianni Isola Imola Center; “Martyrium”, MEAM Barcelona and Pobla de Segur Sculpture Biennial, Lleida, Spain, 2014. In 2015 he was selected as a finalist in the 59th International Ceramics Award in Faenza and in 2017 he was invited to Korea to the Gyeonggi International Ceramics Biennial and is “honorable mention” at the 39th International Ceramic Art Exhibition and Competition in the City of Gualdo Tadino, Perugia, Italy 2017. Some of his works have won national awards and been acquired in Italian and Spanish public collections. He currently collaborates with important Italian and European galleries. He lives and works in Meldola.

Glazed ceramic (wooden frame). A very colourful, pop-aesthetic work where a continuous dialogue develops between two objects, such as scissors and flowers, or hearts and keys. “The title “Breviary”, as in literature, refers to an extract, a small collection of ideas. It is as if these works were a summary of all my work, a summary of the most complex works such as my Shadow Pavements or the Caryatids, cycles of works where ceramics becomes a meeting point between classicism and contemporaneity through a reworking of objects that refer to our most intimate and personal memory.” Luca Freschi
