Saracho (Ángel Hurtado de Saracho) - Living City With A Horse
Biografía del Artista: Born in Gijón in 1973, he graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Leioa in the Basque Country. Already at that time, his work stood out for its very personal figuration, in which he represents anonymous locations and characters, moments that may seem unimportant, but which form part of his life experience. In his last year of studies at the Faculty, he was awarded a Scholarship from Paradores de Turismo, and at the end of it, a jury chaired by the prestigious painter Antonio López selected his work to form part of the permanent collection of Paradores de España. Saracho has held numerous collective and solo exhibitions in public institutions, foundations and art galleries, as well as having participated in fairs such as “Hybrid” and “Room Art Fair” in Madrid, “Cuarto Público” in Santiago de Compostela, “Art3F” in Bordeaux, France or Flecha Artea in Bilbao. In addition, he has obtained several residential scholarships, the last one at the International Symposium of artists of Noja, Sianoja 2017, in which he was one of the resident participants. His work can be found in private collections, municipal art galleries and in the public collection of Paradores de España.
“Transits to Blue” is the latest series that Saracho has created in the privacy of his studio. In this series, Saracho continues to work with the concepts of analysis and synthesis. Although nature is also present in this series, it must be said that most of the works are urban scenes, in which daily life in various towns is represented. The human figure is still present in most of his works, figures in motion or static that form an important part of the composition. For Saracho, it is not the place represented that is important, but rather the everyday life that is presented in that scene: the action, the movement, the stillness or the waiting of the figures represented. The title of this series, “Transits to Blue,” refers to the transits of people that can occur in an urban environment, and to blue, since, once the series was completed, analyzing each of the works, blue was presented as an omnipresent character in all the works.
