‘If I told you…’

Javier Calleja has once again used pages torn from books and found papers, and has recovered some of the elements of his previous work. By using more intense and vibrant tones than usual, and incorporating more realistic attributes to his characters, such as volume, shadows, brightness, color and rosy cheeks, he combines the aesthetics of his previous works with the current language that has made him recognized throughout the world. At the same time, a very marked contrast is established between this fanciful close-up and the hand gestures or texts on his characters' T-shirts, which capture the uncertain actuality of these moments. "Let's See", "Delicate Issue", "And?", "The Only Way Is Up" and "Everything Is Going To Be OK" reflect the lethargic attitude of constant anticipation and adaptation that we have no choice but to accept. By depicting these images on aged paper, Calleja also creates a kind of time capsule that endures as a document of the historical reality in which we live.
