The Hummel works that comprise Automatic function as a psychologically exploratory activity, in which conscious intention and decision about the formal aspects of the work can be or engender behaviors and artifacts on which an intimate reading of the unconscious influence can be made. Each day is an expedition toward an intimate, intense and relentless inner search through which Hummel seeks to better understand herself.
