‘BRG (2020-2021)’

José Guerrero's new series entitled BRG (2020-2021) is directly inspired by the architecture of Luis Barragán and linked in some way to Italian metaphysical painting. As on previous occasions, Guerrero addresses ideas that transcend the very nature of the photographic medium, although in this series he distances himself from his classic landscapes to get even closer to pictorial abstraction through absolute control of composition, color, light and atmosphere. The work on miniature architectural models, together with the necessary pre- and post-production, have served the artist to delve into fundamental questions present in all his previous work. Investigations that lead him to explore the documentary and abstract nature of the photographic medium; to stress the strange border between reality and its representation; to address intrinsic aspects of painting from the field of the photographic image.
