Juan Antonio Aguirre - Without title
Técnica: Acrylic on cardboard
Biografía del Artista: Juan Antonio Aguirre (Madrid, 1945 - 2016) is considered a unique definer of the New Generation, which represented a break with informalism and marked the emergence of pop in Spain, as well as the post-pop and new geometry movements. He was a central figure in the Amadis Gallery group, a group concerned with promoting the most important artists of Spain in the seventies such as Carlos Alcolea, Carlos Franco, Luis Gordillo, Santiago Serrano or José María Yturralde. Aguirre's painting moves in the realm of figuration, sometimes influenced by naive art. He soon adopted a neo-constructivist style; a style that, under the influence of Bonnard, Matisse or Munch, is characterized by vibrant colors and the representation of blurred forms. Among the themes he proposes, the still lifes stand out, reflecting his attention to the most trivial objects and plastic art, interior landscapes and characters that present references to autobiographical experiences. In 1999, the IVAM Valencian Institute of Modern Art held a retrospective of his career. His work is part of museums and public collections such as the IVAM Valencian Institute of Modern Art (Valencia), MNCARS Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid) or Museo Patio Herreriano Museum of Contemporary Spanish Art (Valladolid). This artwork includes a certificate of authenticity. A certificate of authenticity is a document from an authoritative source that verifies the authenticating value of the artwork. The information that a certificate of authenticity usually includes is: name of the artist, details of the work (title, date, support, dimensions) and an image of it.
