‘Scriptories’

For more than twenty years, the artist Juan Moreno, through his research and production, has created a set of works that make up a collection he calls Scriptoria.

This name is due to the spaces formerly designated in monasteries for the transcription of texts. This catalogue is a compendium of a significant part of the work produced by Juan Moreno, which is made up of handwritten books (texts selected for their great cultural relevance); books of manuals produced in the Middle Ages such as calligraphic catalogues, decorations or illustrations; folios of studies prior to the preparation of a book or, unique pieces that capture a concept, idea or specific phrase; drawings and studies in silverpoint. In the hands and technique of Juan Moreno, the ancient way and contemporary artistic expression are combined, creating a new plastic proposal towards a revaluation of knowledge and books as a Being, and a unique object of its kind.
