‘From Inside | From within ’
For this new exhibition (her eighth at Galerie Lelong), which she has titled “From Inside,” Kiki Smith has assembled a group of new bronzes depicting hands, which she juxtaposes with two major iconic works from the 1990s: wall sculptures of human figures, a male Iceman and a female Black Madonna. She has added a series of delicate drawings from 1995 depicting parts of the female body, as well as a rare series of etchings: “Possession is Nine-Tenths of the Law” from 1985. In this way the artist shows the continuity and coherence of her work over the years.
