‘Kata’

The Mar de Dios exhibition at the Aldama Fabre gallery is a vindication of the complexity and richness of ceramics as a material, as a presence and as a language. The technique required to cook the clay at the exact degrees for the exact amount of time and the absorption that such a delicately artisanal process brings back to us are memories that, like sushi, karate or Japanese earthquakes, have a solid and nuanced echo in the sincerity of their simplicity.
