The first long stocking was created for a solo exhibition Corcordia Hengelo (NL) in 2011: "Hendrika", a pair of knitted clogs joined by socks point. This caused a lot of sensations in the visitors of the exhibition, which made me fantasize about a whole series of these "long stockings", each with its own own character and history. My thoughts turned to a variant "perverted" with high heels and fishnet stockings, a Ko-de-ranger variant with huge wellington boots. Or did my imagination go too far? At that time I was asked to do an exhibition at the RABO-theater in Hengelo. (Holland). What could be better than these characters in a theatre? So I I took up knitting for almost a year and a half. One character after another emerged: Marie- Antoinette, Seyx Sadie, Pink little Lucy, Three Legged Sally, and many, many others. They all had some humor, those absurdly long and stretched legs but at the same time at the same time terribly tragic. And that combination made them very interesting to me. So interesting that I wanted the stories to be developed in my fantasy were visible to others. This is why I I asked my colleague/photographer Jan Beerling to start a project together to photographing these long stockings worn by real people. It started a co-production! Models were sought, a make-up artist was brought in, sketches. And there were photo shoots, lots of photo shoots. We created a series unconventional photographic; an indeterminate world of characters, sometimes extravagant, sometimes very calm and subdued, each telling their own own story but also leave room for the viewer's experience. This artwork includes a certificate of authenticity.
