'Between pain and nothingness'

A life without painful experiences is a half-life. However, when we remember, it is not the original experiences that we recall, but the latest update of them, since our brain stores fragments of memories that we recompose each time we recall them. Thus, the more times we remember an event, the greater its distortion will be.

Based on this peculiar functioning of the mind, Pablo Mercado's work seeks to connect these theories in the visual field from different perspectives. Mercado's work tirelessly seeks to understand and capture memories. Together, the parts of this exhibition form a nostalgic visual study of the enigma of our brain.

“Between the experience of pain and nothingness, I would choose pain.” William Faulkner
