'Into loop'

Heir to the Spanish and German gestural and informalist tradition of the second half of the 20th century, Rafa Forteza (Palma de Mallorca, 1955) is considered one of the most significant creators of contemporary Spanish art, with an extensive body of work that establishes a dialogue between abstraction and figuration, but also an intense debate between reality and concept. Formally, much of his work could also be related to Art Povera, for his stylised sculptural creations, or to Art Brut and abstract expressionism, but overall, his work reflects pure creativity, uncontaminated by the imitation of already established models, intentionally conceived with a certain primitivist air, in which a language based on essential forms is sought, such as the cross or the human face, taken to maximum schematism through short brushstrokes, circles, false collages, in his well-known fold sculptures and in the very new tech sculptures.
