‘Backstop’

Richard Serra continues to produce rigorous and intense prints. His two new compositions, titled Backstop, combine printmaking and the use of paint sticks in a double panel that explores mass and balance, as is often the case in his sculpture.

In addition to these new works, the exhibition also includes several prints from the Composite suite, conceived in 2018-19, which were delicately printed and required many months of effort. They combine aquatint and a paint bar applied by silkscreen to produce a texture with impressive density.
