Estefanía Martín Sáenz - What I have left
Biografía del Artista: Estefanía Martín Sáenz (Bilbao, 1982). Estefanía Martín Sáenz's work is characterized by her exploration of the relationship between space, light and matter. Using superposition and transparency techniques in her paintings, she creates lighting effects that suggest three-dimensional and changing spaces. In her sculptures and installations, she uses materials such as glass, steel and concrete to create objects that play with light and reflection. One of the recurring themes in Estefanía Martín Sáenz's work is the ephemeral nature of reality and human perception. With elements such as shadow, light and color, she explores how our perception of reality can be deceptive and subjective. After her participation in the Just LX Lisbon edition, Estefanía was awarded the 1st Millennium bcp Fundação Emerging Art Acquisition Award for her triptych Mala hierba and the 2nd La Rural Painting and Plastic Arts Award for her work La mala hierba también muere. In 2016 she won the Martínez Guerricabeitia Foundation Acquisition Award for her work Los cuervos que adoraban a la mujer (The Crows Who Worshiped Women), in which she invented the story of the Celtic goddess Morrigan and the crows. In 2015 she received the DKV-MAKMA Drawing Award for her work Las Ausentes (The Absences), exhibited at the Centre del Carme in Valencia. In 2018 she showed her project at the 15th Edition of the Conexiones programme at the Museo ABC, with the solo exhibition Luto y lujo (Mourning and Luxury); and this year she presented her Mascaras (Masks) at the Alcobendas Art Centre in Madrid.
