‘(Dis) Assembly’
Sam Smith’s work examines the language of film and its relationship to material ecologies. Working across media (video, sculpture, performance, and installation), Sam Smith’s practice addresses the relationship between the technical and natural world, subject and object, from a hybrid point of view. Technical devices are shown outside their reified image, sharing materiality and sensoriality in consonance with the organic universe outside the frame. In the exhibition “(dis)assembly,” the artist expands his research on the narrative forms of video, the devices for capturing and producing moving images, and media technology.
