'Waking up to life'

The artist Santi Jiménez presents his most recent work at the Galería METRO in Santiago de Compostela. Despertando a la vida is the title of this exhibition made up of thirteen pieces that interact with each other in a chromatic game that pits darkness against light, black against white, in which Santi Jiménez's exquisite drawing captures us, not only to leave us fascinated by its quality, but to make us enter, through pure visual poetry, into the universe of his most philosophical concerns at such a crucial moment as the one humanity is experiencing.

Titles such as The Path of My Interior, And That's How I Feel, Just Below My Bad Mood or What Happiness Hides, give us clues about the artist's existential moment in the face of life's uncertainty. In his words, "Waking Up to Life arises from an extremely existential approach in a society in which the authentic perception of existence has been lost and in which the only action is to wander through what seems to us to be reality, not being, most of the time, aware that we are alive."
