Between Above and Below is Daniela Libertad's first solo exhibition at NF/ NIEVES FERNÁNDEZ. The exhibition, made up of large-format drawings, video and sculptures, raises various reflections that range from how Libertad constructs her images at the intersection between drawing and weaving to the possibility of encountering a new color.
The paper support and its materiality occupy an important place in the formation and understanding of the pieces, once the artist reconfigures it multiple times, drawing, weaving, overflowing, resisting or yielding to the relationship with other materials such as thread or metal.
On the other hand, colour is also a fundamental element present in Daniela Libertad's work and she explores it to the point of spatial materialisation. Colour abounds and mixes, juxtaposes, taking on almost physical characteristics, in a gesture that strains the limits of its merely flat plastic understanding, to give it body and materiality in contours, textures, volumes. Colours compose and give shape to the weaving, but they also take on a kind of life in a dreamlike field, as is the case of the audiovisual work in the exhibition, in which a new colour exists as a memory and possibility and in which the artist's narration of the encounter with a new colour lets us see that the only possible place for its existence is the space of the word.
