The Lucía Mendoza gallery presents The sea dresses in feathers and the ice is painted in red, an exhibition by the Chilean artist Josefina Guilisasti, curated by Christian Viveros-Fauné, and which is part of Apertura 2021. They are especially proud of this exhibition that has helped them develop and deepen their personal commitment to show the role of contemporary art as a pillar and driving force of a common movement towards sustainability from practices and aesthetics that are hybridized and that seek a broad expression of artistic creation in an expanded, flexible, free, reflective, proactive and stimulating space. Sustainability rests on a balance between economic growth, care for the environment and social well-being. This exhibition emphasizes the historical rescue of traditional knowledge and know-how, establishing interdisciplinary dialogues that include history, anthropology, geography and crafts. To take care of our present and future, it is essential to contemplate the past and learn from it to build a better future today.
