Criado is considered one of the pioneers of Spanish contemporary art and his work has been exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world, including the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. Criado's work is characterized by its exploration of form, space and perception, often using transparent and reflective materials to play with light and environment. He also took an interest in the relationship between art and nature, using natural elements such as branches and stones in his works. Criado received numerous awards and recognitions during his career, including the National Prize for Plastic Arts in 1994 and the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in 2009. Additionally, in 1993 he represented Spain at the Venice Biennale. Nacho Criado’s work is highly valued in the Spanish contemporary art world and his influence is felt in the work of many later artists. His ability to transform materials and challenge the conventions of traditional art makes him one of the most innovative and avant-garde artists of his time.
