Annette Schock - Better Watch Out! (Bruno)
Biografía del Artista: Annette Schock offers a mysterious look at animals, as the embodiment and symbol of the irresponsibility of our paradoxical times. They are mainly food animals that often survive in deplorable conditions, as is the case of farms where, after the pleasant Alpine summer, the harsh winter and the sadness of the stabled animal will arrive. “The Three Graces” are perhaps the symbol, three friends of Annette, beautiful Austrian cows whose personality the artist knows and explains in detail: “they deserve to be portrayed,” our creator will conclude. Annette Schock was an extraordinary and tireless draughtsman, mastering the use of charcoal on both paper and canvas, to which she frequently added acrylic paint. As we have already noted, the drawings occupied (“invaded” we could write) her studios between Germany and Madrid, like preparatory notes that make up large mosaics that would serve as a source of study. In this way, the great paintings will grow, emerging after an exhaustive analysis and careful selection of the stages of the sketches, sometimes also using photography in the process prior to drawing and, in some way, this complex exercise is the starting point of his look at these flesh(s). Ready? Bleeding? Please, the table is set. Alfonso de la Torre, Art Critic
