Biografía del Artista: Oriol Maspons (Barcelona 1928 -2013) was part of a group of photographers, (sometimes referred to as the Barcelona School), who produced important documentary work on Catalonia and Spain, especially in the 1950s and 1960s. He met Cartier-Bresson, Brassai and Robert Doisneau during his stay in Paris from 1955 to 1956, which visibly influenced his own work. In Barcelona he set up a studio together with Julio Ubiña and devoted himself to editorial and advertising photography. Portraiture became one of his favourite activities, leading to great visual testimonies of the cultural and social life of the region. In 1998 he received the Gold Medal of the City of Barcelona, together with Colita and Leopoldo Pomés. He published several books, including: Els Barcelonins (with Colita and X. Miserachs), 1988, Company Characters, 1995, The Lost Moment, 1996, The House of the Red Partridge, text: Miguel Delibes, Salon Bullfighting, text: Camilo José Cela.
