Alberto Baraya - Automaquia # B2. Unhappy onslaught of a powerful
Técnica: Watercolor and Chinese ink on cotton paper 300 gr.
Biografía del Artista:Alberto Baraya (Colombia, 1968) is a visual artist who graduated from the Faculty of Arts at the National University of Colombia and has studied at the Autonomous University (Master in Aesthetics and Art Theory) and the Complutense University of Madrid (Multimedia specialist). His work is directed towards the investigation and questioning of scientific knowledge and the instruments that legitimize it: expeditions and museums. Through his actions and works, discourses of cultural vindication and analysis of the concept of the exotic are generated. His most extensive project, the Herbarium of Artificial Plants, is a proposal that questions the scientific paradigm, society, and the cultural and social norms of the world. His work is represented in the collections of the Banco de la República, Bogotá, Colombia; Luis Ángel Arango Library, Bogotá, Colombia; Instituto de la Juventud, Madrid, Spain; Museo de Arte de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá, Colombia; Tamarind Institute, Albuquerque, USA; The United States Information Agency, USA and the ARCO Foundation Collection, Spain. It is postcolonial and, at the same time, reflects on everyday aesthetic acts.
