Biografía del Artista: Anders Kjellesvik is a Norwegian contemporary artist who was born in 1975 in the city of Bergen. He is known for his interdisciplinary approach combining sculpture, installation and photography, and his work is often inspired by nature and the urban environment. Kjellesvik studied at the National Academy of Arts in Oslo, graduating in 2001. His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe, including Norway, Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Spain. One of his best-known works is "The Rain Project", an installation in which he created an artificial cloud inside a gallery using water vapor and light. The work was presented at the Venice Biennale in 2007, and has been exhibited in other cities across Europe. Another notable work by Kjellesvik is "Flooded", an installation in which he built a life-sized house inside a gallery and flooded it with water. The work is a reflection on the effects of climate change and the increasing threat of flooding around the world. In his work, Kjellesvik has also explored themes of identity and memory, through the creation of portraits in stone and the use of found materials in nature, such as branches and leaves. In 2015, Kjellesvik was awarded the inaugural Fritt Ord Foundation Prize for Contemporary Art in Norway, which recognises artists working at the intersection of art and politics. Kjellesvik continues to work in his studio in Bergen, and his work has been acquired by numerous public and private collections in Norway and abroad. His interdisciplinary approach and ability to create works that challenge conventional expectations have made him a leading figure on the contemporary art scene.
