BELÉN RODRÍGUEZ - Murcielago wings
Biografía del Artista: Valladolid (Spain), 1981. Belén Rodríguez's artistic project pictorially and sculpturally breaks down essential cultural ingredients in clear reference to the artisanal world of textiles. Gathering the fruits of the environment, like a landscaper sur le motiv, Belén Rodríguez acts more as a local collector than as an agent in a representation process: once she has obtained the colour tone, she no longer needs to recreate the shape of trees or clouds, grass or rocks. The truth is that by working in this way, Belén excludes the painter's palette and creates her own chromatic repertoire that contains the maximum pictorial concreteness and formal abstraction, delving into the profound mystery of color and its superficial splendor. Master of Art from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna since 2010, where she studied with Professor Heimo Zobernig and graduated in Fine Arts from the UCM in Madrid in 2007. She has been part of different Artist in Residence Programs such as Flora ars + natura, in Bogotá, Artist X Artist, Havana in 2016, Hooper Projects in Los Angeles, USA, in 2015, Academy of Spain in Rome in 2012 and BMUKK Tokyo, in 2009. Some of her solo exhibitions are "I turn Chilli Red" at Josh Lilley, London in 201, "Orange cotton in the beautiful shadow", at Alarcón Criado, Seville, in 2019, “Paintung”, at Patio Herreriano, Valladolid 2018, “Circa” at Das weisse haus, in Vienna, 2011, at the Parra y Romero Gallery, Madrid, in 2010. She received the Staatstipendium Scholarship from the Austrian Ministry of Culture in 2015, the Caja Madrid Generation Award in 2011 and with Honorable Mention in 2009, artist selected as a finalist in the 5th edition of the Alhambra Beers Award for Emerging Art, 2021.
