Bernardino Sánchez Bayo - Live or die
Técnica: Acrylic
Biografía del Artista: Bernardino Sánchez Bayo (Granada, 1978) is a Spanish artist who has developed a very personal and unique artistic quest. His work is characterized by the exploration of the relationship between humans and nature, as well as by his social commitment and concern for environmental issues. Throughout his career, Sánchez Bayo has used various media and techniques, such as painting, drawing, sculpture and installation, to convey his message. In his works, elements of nature can be seen, such as branches, leaves, stones and sand, which are combined with more artificial materials, such as plastics and waste objects. This fusion of materials aims to create a dialogue between nature and culture, and to reflect on the need for a balance between the two. Furthermore, in his artistic quest, Bernardino Sánchez Bayo has also worked in collaboration with different groups and organizations, in order to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote awareness. In this sense, his works can also be considered as a tool for activism and social change. Bernardino Sanchez Bayo (Granda, 1978) has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Granada, where he created portraits of the professors of the Drawing Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts. His works have participated in numerous collective and individual exhibitions, such as the one held at the Fundación Caja Rural de Granada under the title Inquietudes, miedo y ambiciones (Concerns, Fear and Ambitions). He was commissioned to create a series of portraits of the various mayors of Ogíjares, as well as of His Majesty the King, Don Felipe VI, located in the Plenary Hall of the town hall. He has been awarded numerous prizes and mentions, being a finalist in the XXXIV Edition of the BMW Painting Prize and in the International Competition of Figurative Painting and Sculpture 2019. In recognition of his production and career, he has received the First Prize of Motril, the First Prize in the XVIII National Painting Competition of the City of Manzanares in Ciudad Real, and the First Prize for Young Painting in Asturias, among other distinctions. He has also enjoyed various training scholarships and artistic stays, such as the Landscape Scholarship from the Rodríguez Acosta Foundation in Granada, the Talens Scholarship IX Convocation of Barcelona or the V Concello Concello de Sansenxo Scholarship. His pieces can be found in prestigious public and private collections, including the University of Granada, the Caja Rural Foundation of Granada, the Antonio López García Collection, Tomelloso (Ciudad Real), the Talens Art Fund of Barcelona, the Ibercaja Contemporary Art Collection in Zaragoza, and the City Councils of Villaviciosa, Gijón and Motril. This artwork includes a certificate of authenticity.
