Costus - Strength
Biografía del Artista: Costus was the pseudonym used by the Spanish artists Enrique Naya Igueravide and Juan José Carrero Galofré, two Spanish visual artists who were also a couple in private life. Their work is closely linked to the iconography of the Movida Madrileña. Their residence in Malasaña, known as Casa Costus, became an important meeting point for artists of the Madrid scene and served as the setting for Pedro Almodóvar's film "Pepi, Luci, Bom y otras chicas del monton". They stood out for their series "El Valle de los Caídos", in which they incorporated portraits of famous people and pop references. Their stay in Mexico had a notable influence on their style, contributing a vibrant colour inspired by the local culture. Upon their return to Spain, they exhibited their works at the SEN gallery, where they presented works influenced by Mexican folklore. In their last stage, they created the series "La Andalucía de Séneca", in which they integrated elements of Egyptian culture after an inspiring trip. His artistic legacy remains a benchmark for the fusion of tradition and modernity in Spanish art.
