Biografía del Artista: Damien Cifelli is a multidisciplinary artist and writer from Edinburgh, now based in London. His work explores a fictional land called Tarogramma. Taking cues from historical paintings and sculptures for scale and composition, he has constructed a detailed culture with its own aesthetic, way of life and understanding of the world; a culture that is both strange and eerily similar to our own. He says that knowledge of this civilization is supposedly limited to artifacts and a few images, so people wonder if it is an afterlife, a forgotten city or a completely fictional construction. Many of the works have the tone of documentary fashion images or perhaps a sports brand campaign, from the compositions to the styling and nonchalant expressions. The resemblance seems deliberate, given Cifelli’s aim with Tarogramma. Through this body of work, she asks: “In creating a fictional world, can we hold a mirror up to ourselves?”This artwork includes a certificate of authenticity. A certificate of authenticity is a document from an authoritative source that verifies the authenticating value of the artwork. The certificate may be signed by the author of the artwork, by the representative gallery, or by the engraver who collaborated with the artist on the artwork.
The information that a certificate of authenticity usually includes is: name of the artist, details of the work (title, date, support, dimensions) and an image of it.
