Biografía del Artista:
“Gender Hierarchies” was created with the FaceApp application, which is a photo editor with tools to modify selfies with changes in age, weight or gender. With this work, the artist raises a discourse on the social construction of gender through the creation of new identities that move fluidly from femininity to masculinity, highlighting the subtle differences that are activated in our psychological process when perceiving an artist. It consists of 19 portraits of historical female painters to transform them into men using the application, and had as clear references some feminist works from the 70s, such as “The King of Solana Beach” (1972-1975) by Eleanor Antin or the series “Untitled (Facial Hair Transplants)” (1972) by Ana Mendieta, in which the artists use facial hair as a symbol of social authority and the strength associated with masculinity in our patriarchal system. Just as she did with her video “An Artist for Every Day” (2021), in which she edited 365 stories that she had shared on Instagram over the course of a year, in this new video she also uses a digital function of mobile devices to use it as an artistic medium. Just as it happened when cinematography was born, which was just a fairground attraction and it was artists who, with their creative work, managed to turn it into art, many digital media considered mundane today can also be used as artistic disciplines. The chosen music (Music by Scott Buckley @musoscientific) evokes a film soundtrack in order to convey a type of cinematic emotion that builds to a crescendo until the final culmination.This artwork includes a certificate of authenticity. A certificate of authenticity is a document from an authoritative source that verifies the authenticating value of the artwork. The certificate may be signed by the author of the artwork, by the representative gallery, or by the engraver who collaborated with the artist on the artwork.
The information that a certificate of authenticity usually includes is: name of the artist, details of the work (title, date, support, dimensions) and an image of it.
Recomendaciones para una conservación adecuada de las obras de arte:
