Ding Musa - Cell
Biografía del Artista: Ding Musa (1979, São Paulo) is a contemporary artist whose creative interests focus on light, perception, space and geometric form. Unlike traditional photography, his works do not seek to represent an existing reality, but rather to question the function and utility of existing images and to seek other possible ways of relating to them. Through his photographs, videos, objects and installations, Ding proposes a new visual construction of the world, reflecting on the intrinsic properties of photography and its relationship to other disciplines of contemporary art. His works are devoid of theme, narrative or referent in a traditional sense, and propose a contemplative experience that invites the viewer to reflect on the nature and intrinsic qualities of the images they are confronted with. Ding Musa studied Visual Arts at the University of São Paulo and completed his Master's degree in Visual Arts at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He has exhibited his work in major contemporary art exhibitions and festivals in Brazil and abroad, such as the São Paulo Biennial, the Havana Biennial, and the South American Biennial of Contemporary Art. He has also been awarded several prizes, including the Centro Cultural São Paulo Photography Prize in 2011 and the Conrado Wessel Foundation Art Prize in 2013. Ding Musa’s works are found in important contemporary art collections, such as the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói, and the Gilberto Chateaubriand Collection of the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro.
