Biografía del Artista: Emma Shapiro (1988) is an American artist, writer and activist based in Valencia, Spain. She is the editor of the Don't Delete Art campaign and founder of the international art project and movement Exposure Therapy. Her work includes the use of video, collage, performance and photography, although she primarily uses her own body and image. Through the use of layered video projections, self-portraits and repeated encounters with her own image, Emma deconstructs and questions the meaning of our bodies, how we know them and what they might be. The continued censorship of her work online and in real life has led Emma to dedicate herself to the defence of freedom of expression. Through her writing, her position on the Don't Delete Art campaign, lectures and panels, Emma sheds light on the problem of art censorship online and off. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and has received multiple scholarships, awards and residencies to continue her artistic and activist work.
