FLORE - S/t. FL-754 from SADEC A SAIGÓN
Biografía del Artista: Through refined technical interventions in the laboratory, like an alchemist, FLORE shapes as well as restores the world that unfolds before her eyes to make unique images that move away from conventional photographic reality, creating a fusion between content and form. She thus questions the photographic medium, moving easily from older techniques such as platinum-palladium or cyanotype to more modern ones, sometimes mixing them and physically intervening in the prints with wax, gold or pigments. FLORE is totally dedicated to the search for memory and produces “non-sensational” images that attempt to recreate the truth instead of a reality that is slowly fading away. Winner of the Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière Photography Prize in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts and the Nadar Prize. She received the Carte Blanche from the city of Paris.
Flore defines her poetic and timeless universe as a political act, a way of taking a stand against what Giorgio Agamben calls “the darkness of the present”. This body of work, presented for the first time in Spain, was born from a long journey that took her from Saigon to Sadec, from the rivers of the Mekong to the rice fields of southern Cochinchina. It is a recreation of Marguerite Duras’ youth in Indochina. This artwork includes a certificate of authenticity.
