Gonzalo Elvira - The dreams of decisions
Técnica: Ink on map
Biografía del Artista: Gonzalo Elvira (Patagonia, Argentina, 1971) studied at the Antonio Berni School of Visual Arts in Argentina and began his exhibition career in 1993. He has lived and worked in Barcelona since 2000 and combines his artistic side with intense educational and pedagogical work concentrated in the Obra Door studio, which he manages and directs in the Gracia neighborhood. Gonzalo Elvira's works have developed over the years in the form of series that, far from being closed, are revisited or recovered at specific moments and that maintain a great thematic and fully complementary relationship between them. Among his works we can highlight the series: 12 Concrete Songs, a project dedicated to the monument that Walter Gropius conceived as a tribute to the nine workers killed during a strike in Weimar; The Ballad of Simon, which reconstructs the political and life experience of Simon Radowitzky, a Ukrainian-Argentine anarchist who, after the brutal police repression during the events of Red Week in Buenos Aires (1909), attacked the police chief responsible, Ramón Lorenzo Falcón; Lo Inborrable, the title of a book by Juan José Saer, which he wrote based on an analysis of the last dictatorship in Argentina; Assaig ST 1909-1919, a work in which two historical events such as the Tragic Week of Barcelona and that of Buenos Aires face each other; Finally, Bauhaus 1919, Model to assemble on the important school and its model, so often idealized. Work that over time has focused on the figure of women and the role they played in the German school. This artwork includes a certificate of authenticity.
