Jaime Velazquez - The algorithm of the Gods
Biografía del Artista: Jaime Velazquez, Cadiz, 1987, studied Fine Arts at the Santa Isabel de Hungría Faculty in Seville. Specializing in silkscreen printing, engraving, lithography and graphic design, he also holds a Master's degree in Historical Heritage from the University of Cadiz. Velazquez has been shortlisted for the 37th BMW Painting Award 2022; he has participated in group exhibitions such as “Ser-Aquí”, at the Provincial Palace of the Diputación de Cádiz and won the First Prize in The Gustavo Bacarisas Award at the 44th International Art Competition of Gibraltar, with artist Tim Shaw as a jury member. He has exhibited individually at The Fine Arts Gallery in Gibraltar and recently in his hometown, El Puerto de Santa María, at the Alfonso X El Sabio Exhibition Hall. His work is a reflection of its context and time. Immigration, questions of identity, globalization, new technologies, collective history and memory are the themes that intersect in his visual narrative. Using the same capture procedures used by technology, the virtual world and digital marketing, Velázquez takes them out of context and takes them to new and unknown dimensions.
