Jill Gallieni - No title (Prayer to Maria)
Técnica: Ink on Paper
Biografía del Artista: Born in 1948 to an American mother and an actor father, Jill Gallieni was raised away from her parents until her father took her in when she was seven. She has always been creating strange cloth dolls in Paris and, around the age of 30, prayer helps her to rebuild herself, to find a way out of inextricable mental situations that prevented her from living. At first, she would have liked to "say" with words, but seeing a sentence written by herself was absolutely unbearable for her. So, she invented sentences of prayers, always the same, repeated hundreds of times, garlands of prayers very close together so that the meaning escapes everyone. Addressed to Saint Rita, patron saint of desperate causes, Jill "treats" with these prayers situations, people, herself, etc. With similar letters or superimposed writing, in black or colored ink, loose sheets and notebooks are filled with writing; Freed from all convention, the writing evolves in different directions, following its own rhythm, following curves, diagonals, drawing, like calligrams, flowers, houses, hearts or other sometimes abstract forms. These impressive texts have recently been welcomed into the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Contemporary Art and Art Brut in Lille. This artwork includes a certificate of authenticity.
