Jonathan Hammer - Octopus

Biografía del Artista: Born in Chicago in 1960, Jonathan Hammer has had 50+ solo exhibitions. For more than 35 years he has worked in several mediums including works on paper, photography, unique books, sculpture, ceramics, and prints, as well as his signature screens and panels made from marque-try of exotic skins. Hammer has exhibited widely in Germany, Switzerland, Norway, France, England, Japan, Mexico and the United States. In Spain he has had many solo shows. He has had 10 one person exhibitions in New York (including five at Matthew Marks Gallery). Along with numerous group exhibitions in museums worldwide, Hammer has had solo shows in Gene-va at the Centre d’Art Contemporain, the Berkeley Art Museum and the Derfner Museum. His art is in many private and public collections including multiple works in each of the following: the Museum of Modern Art; San Francisco MOMA; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Hammer Museum (UCLA); Berkeley Art Museum; Whitney Museum of American Art; New York Public Library; Jumex Collection, Mexico City, among others. An authority on Zurich Da-da, (especially Hugo Ball and Jean Arp/Sophie Taeuber Arp) Hammer published his critical writ-ings on the subject in his book “Ball and Hammer”, Yale University Press, 2002. He has re-ceived honors from among others: Art Matters, NY; Pro Helvetia (the Swiss Arts Council); The Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture, NY; The Pollock Krasner Foundation, NY; PEW Foun-dation, Philadelphia; Arp Foundation, Berlin. Hammer is the founder of the Villa Bergerie artists residency project. He lives and works in Spain. Nacido en Chicago en 1960, Jonathan Hammer ha realizado más de 50 exposiciones individua-les. Durante 35 años, ha trabajado usando diferentes técnicas que abarcan trabajos en papel, fotografía, libros únicos, escultura, cerámica y grabados, así como sus biombos y cuadros he-chos de marquetería de pieles exóticas. Hammer ha expuesto en Alemania, Suiza, Noruega, Francia, Inglaterra, Japón, México, España y Estados Unidos (incluidas cinco en la Galería Matthew Marks). Junto con numerosas exposiciones colectivas en museos de todo el mundo, Hammer ha realizado exposiciones individuales en Ginebra en el Centro de Arte Contemporá-neo, el Museo de Arte de Berkeley y el Museo Derfner. Materials and care
Recomendaciones para una conservación adecuada de las obras de arte:
  • Mantener las obras de arte alejadas de la luz directa del sol y de cualquier otra fuente de calor (calefacción, aire acondicionado, etc.) Evitar colgar las obras cerca de zonas con humo y contaminación (como chimeneas o cocinas). Te aconsejamos proteger los cuadros con un marco de cristal.
  • Evitar las alteraciones bruscas de temperatura. Se recomienda conservar las obras pictóricas en zonas con temperatura ambiente de entre 18-20º y un 50% de humedad relativa.
  • Si se quiere iluminar la obra de forma permanente, aconsejamos utilizar focos de luz fría. Utilizar un plumero suave para la limpieza periódica de la obra. Nunca usar limpiador doméstico.
