Liliana Porter - THE BARRENDERA
Biografía del Artista: Liliana Porter is an Argentine artist born in Buenos Aires in 1941, who has developed her work primarily in New York. Her work focuses on the exploration of identity and memory through a wide variety of media, including photography, video, installation and miniature art. Porter uses everyday visual elements in her work to create visual narratives that question the way stories and identities are constructed. In her series "Toy Photographs", the artist uses dolls and miniature objects to create scenes that explore themes such as politics, war and religion. In her most recent work, Porter has continued to explore the relationship between image and reality, using techniques such as image superimposition and digital manipulation to create pieces that question visual perception. In her series "The Man with the Axe and Other Brief Situations," the artist uses found objects to create surreal scenes that defy visual logic. Liliana Porter's work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, and the Venice Biennale. In 2013, the artist was honored with the Konex Platinum Award in Argentina for her outstanding career in the visual arts.
