Marcos Tamargo - Water
Biografía del Artista: Marcos Tamargo is a Spanish artist born in Oviedo in 1981, considered one of the most outstanding young painters on the Spanish scene. Throughout his career, Tamargo has created various works that can be found in museums and private collections around the world, such as The Hispanic Society Museum, National Heritage, European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN), Princess of Asturias Foundation, Infanta Elena Museum, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain, among others. Tamargo works mainly in an abstract-figurative language, creating vital pieces that are closely related to his personal life. One of the distinctive features of his work is the use and transformation of matter in the form of textures, collected in different places and situations, to capture its very essence on canvas. In 2019, Tamargo was chosen to portray all the women awarded with the Nobel Prizes, in a project sponsored by the Nobel Museum, the Nobel Institute, the European Union, the United States Embassy, the German Embassy, UNESCO, among others. In addition, Tamargo has been commissioned to portray the winners of the Princess of Asturias Award and HM King Felipe VI for 5 years. He has also participated in international art fairs in cities such as New York, Miami, Brussels, Geneva and London. Tamargo is the ambassador in Spain of the prestigious paint brand Winsor & Newton. His work is valued for the vitality it transmits, for the relationship it establishes with the matter and for his ability to create textures that reflect the essence of the places and situations that inspire his work.
Agua invites us to reflect on the bridges that connect beginnings and destinations in life, a metaphor for the journeys that are so significant in Tamargo's work. His series Puentes, with characters that travel to infinity, are a faithful reflection of the personality of this artist, who always looks forward without forgetting his past. Marcos Tamargo, a name that resonates in contemporary art circles, has constantly challenged the limits of artistic expression throughout his career. In the year in which he turns 41 and embraces fatherhood, he has decided to look back and undertake a thorough review of his work to date. This act of introspection has given rise to a series of four prints, made on handmade recycled paper, that capture his artistic essence in a remarkable way. These prints focus on the four series that have marked his creations in recent times and that have given him so much success, both in critics and in public acceptance. The four prints that Tamargo has created, based on the elements of nature, are a reflection of his deep respect for the earth and its beauty, while remembering the past, his own history and that of humanity. The handmade recycled paper prints are a testament to Marcos Tamargo's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Using recycled paper is a symbolic gesture that reflects his concern for the environment and his desire to contribute positively to the world through his art. This shows that his creativity is not only limited to his artistic process, but also extends to his philosophy of life. The edition is limited to 30 copies of each, signed and numbered by hand by the artist, with dimensions of 60 x 50 cm and individually worked on. His recycled paper prints, inspired by the four elements of nature, are a testament to his evolution as an artist and his deep sense of responsibility towards the world around him. Marcos Tamargo not only creates art, but also raises awareness, and his artistic legacy will continue to inspire future generations. This artwork includes a certificate of authenticity.
