Pedro Moreno Meyerhoff - Body II
Biografía del Artista: Pedro Moreno Meyerhoff Barcelona, 1950. He is considered one of the most important and recognised figures of realism today. He came to painting through his father's influence and continued in it as a self-taught artist, practicing it first as a hobby and later as a vehicle of expression at a professional level. A dedication that he has combined throughout his life with his academic career as a doctor and professor of Procedural Law. An academic training and work experience that he considers has helped him to convey the precision that defines his particular style. His drawings and oil paintings present a symbiosis of the proportions and beauty of the classical world, the technical mastery and mystery of the great figures of the Italian Renaissance (Giorgione or Piero della Francesca) and the transcendent spirit of abstraction of figures such as Mark Rothko. Images - landscapes and urban environments, details of nature and of our daily lives, exteriors full of light and interiors endowed with an intimate luminosity - that are not just a moment on pause, but a meticulous synthesis between the present, the passage of time that has given them their current form and the emotions and sensations that their experience provokes. In his own words, “the work of art is only immobile in appearance; it expresses a passion to fix, to immobilize the present.” He first exhibited in 1979 in his native Barcelona. Since then he has shown his creations in a multitude of solo and group exhibitions - in galleries, fairs such as ARCO, FIAC (Paris) and institutions such as UNICEF - through which he has become known both among the specialized public and among critics. Part of his professional career has been spent at the prestigious Galerie Claude Bernard in Paris, which has represented him worldwide since 1990. Before illustrating the MAXAM Calendar of 2018, Pedro Moreno Meyerhoff had already stood out as a poster artist with canvases such as the one that gave an image to the 2012 edition of the famous Goya bullfight in Ronda and drawings such as the one with which he illustrated the 2001 Christmas for Fundación La Caixa. His work can be seen in institutions such as MACBA (Spain), the La Caixa Foundation, or the Kunstmuseum of Wupperthal (Germany), as well as in important collections in Spain, France, Norway, Colombia and the USA.
