Biografía del Artista: Casassola “Raúl Muñoz” was born in 1982 in Móstoles, on the outskirts of Madrid. From a very young age he was attracted by the countercultural atmosphere that developed in working-class neighbourhoods during the 80s and 90s and especially by urban movements such as graffiti or punk music. In the artist’s words: “I have been making art for as long as I can remember, I am interested in everything that has to do with the human odyssey, I embrace with equal curiosity the excessive passions of first loves, as well as the implicit tragedy of soup kitchens.” Since then he has participated in numerous collective exhibitions and urban art projects that have led him to visit numerous countries where his work is increasingly appreciated. The Through the Looking-Glass series is an installation composed of 9 individual works, awarded and exhibited at the Mulafest 2016 Urban Art Festival. The work is created on the original mirrors of the old Plaza España Building, an architectural landmark created in the 1950s by engineers Jose María and Julian Otamendi, creating the first large vertical concrete structure, with a baroque façade on its main facade. It was the first "skyscraper" in Madrid, now converted into the RIU Plaza Hotel. Casassola rescued the mirrors from the previous ruin of the building, which fell into ostracism and uncertainty after being closed and sold to different owners until its current conversion into a five-star hotel. The works were photographed in the Huerto del Cura park in Fuenlabrada and in the Mulafest itself, so the reflection of the surroundings can be seen, without this being part of the work, but rather the reflection of the surroundings in the mirror. Through the Looking-Glass is a journey through the mirror of realities, the personal ones that philosophy tells us about, or the extra dimensions that we do not perceive and on which string theory is based. Recomendaciones para una conservación adecuada de las obras de arte:
- Mantener las obras de arte alejadas de la luz directa del sol y de cualquier otra fuente de calor (calefacción, aire acondicionado, etc.) Evitar colgar las obras cerca de zonas con humo y contaminación (como chimeneas o cocinas). Te aconsejamos proteger los cuadros con un marco de cristal.
- Evitar las alteraciones bruscas de temperatura. Se recomienda conservar las obras pictóricas en zonas con temperatura ambiente de entre 18-20º y un 50% de humedad relativa.
- Si se quiere iluminar la obra de forma permanente, aconsejamos utilizar focos de luz fría. Utilizar un plumero suave para la limpieza periódica de la obra. Nunca usar limpiador doméstico.
