Biografía del Artista: Waldo Balart (Banes, Cuba, 1931 - Miami, United States, 2017) was a Cuban artist who stood out for his work in the field of abstract painting. He studied at the University of Havana and then at the University of Saint Thomas Villanueva in Havana. He also received training at the Museum of Modern Art in New York between 1959 and 1962. In his early years as an artist, Balart experimented with different forms of artistic expression, including figurative art and abstract art. However, he definitively opted for abstract painting after his stay in New York and contact with the great masters of abstract expressionism. Waldo Balart's work is characterized by the use of simple geometric shapes and color as essential elements of composition. His work shows a concern for synthesis, harmony and balance. Throughout his career, Balart developed a number of series and cycles in which he explored different aspects of abstract painting. Waldo Balart's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Iris Olert Gallery in Paris, the Cisneros Gallery in New York, the Benson Gallery in Bridgehampton, and the Graham Gallery in New York. His work is in major collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid. He also taught art at Southampton College in 1967. Waldo Balart is considered one of the most important artists of the Cuban avant-garde.This artwork includes a certificate of authenticity.
