Filomena Soares Gallery
Sobre Filomena Soares Gallery
Filomena Soares Gallery was founded in 1999, in Lisbon. Its main objective is to promote contemporary artistic production, fostering a productive dialogue between artists, curators and institutions working in Portugal and abroad.
The gallery is located in the eastern part of Lisbon, in an area that was, for decades, an industrial centre of great importance for the growth of the city and that today is one of its largest urban sites. The gallery space (approx. 1,000 m2) includes two exhibition rooms of different sizes and facilities, allowing it to host a wide variety of exhibitions and other artistic events. The gallery has been involved, from the beginning, in the production of monographs on contemporary art which can be purchased in the gallery itself or consulted in one of the rooms reserved for visitors.
The gallery's programming is governed by a strategy aimed at establishing long-term partnerships with authors working in all fields of artistic expression. The gallery's participation in important contemporary art fairs, as well as its collaborations with international curators -such as David Rimanelli, Rosa Martínez, Jurgen Bock or David Rosenberg- is one of the prospective lines that it keeps in constant development within this context.
