PhotoESPAÑA, a festival to enjoy Madrid art
Jun 05, 2023
Every June , PhotoESPAÑA and its Off Night are held. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about and visit the Off Festival exhibitions, where a detailed selection of exhibitions from the best galleries in Madrid is made, with exhibitions of Photography and Visual Arts. This year, 32 galleries are participating, of which we at RedCollectors highlight seven Madrid galleries.
BuyFive minutes from one of Madrid's most popular parks, Retiro Park, you can meet artists from galleries such as Ponce + Robles , Camara Oscura Galería de Arte or RocioSantacruz. In these galleries you can enjoy everything from photographs documenting the Natural History Museum in Paris to harmonious compositions made by the Boa Mistura collective using the term “Ubuntu”, a traditional African concept.

Walking through the artistic sphere of Madrid we arrive at the city centre, where we can enjoy the Juana de Aizpuru Gallery, Rafael Pérez Hernando and Elba Benítez . They present figurative works and artists. From historical photographs by Yasumasa Morimura presented by Juana de Aizpuru, we move on to enjoy the most recent works by Ofelia García, which combines drawing and photography. Finally, we highlight the “Trompetas” project by the Elba Benítez gallery, where mythical aspects of Western culture are related to current events. Therefore, experiencing an international history through the works.
Finally, just 10 minutes from Plaza de España, you can enter the wonderful artistic world of the Galería Blanca Berlín and its exhibition “In Sub/Urbia”, where you will meet a group of international artists who produce critical, poetic and dreamlike photographic visions about different urban typologies.
