Carlos Marcote - Quinteria Nieva
Biografía del Artista: Carlos Marcote is a Spanish contemporary artist born in Salvatierra, Álava in 1950. Marcote studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid, where he graduated with a degree in painting. Since then, he has been dedicated to his artistic career, producing a unique body of work that has been exhibited in galleries and museums in Spain and abroad. Marcote's work is characterized by its focus on the dreaminess and poetics of places, creating a dreamlike and magical world that seems to evoke the memory of places and spaces in the mind of the viewer. In his paintings, recognizable landscapes and scenarios can be seen, but presented in a way that borders on abstraction, emphasizing light, color and texture. Marcote has received numerous awards and recognitions for his work, such as the Gold Medal of the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid in 1985, the National Prize for Plastic Arts in 1989, and the Federico Coullaut Valera Foundation Prize in 2002. He has also been awarded scholarships and residencies at prestigious artistic institutions, such as the Spanish Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid.
